Frequently Asked Questions
About CBD
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound harvest from cannabis and hemp plants. Studies have shown CBD has soothing, restorative properties that complement a healthy lifestyle.
CBD oil is an extract you can apply topically in a cream or balm. All of our CBD products are derived from hemp.
Simple. Phytocannabinoid rich hemp oil (PCR hemp oil) is broad-spectrum CBD Oil. PCR hemp oil is derived from the cannabis plant through alcohol distillation. Alcohol distillation separates the terpenes out of the plant, making the PCR hemp oil/CBD oil a broad-spectrum product.
Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the health benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically calledphytocannabinoids, whereasendocannabinoidsare produced by your body regardless of your cannabis use. Phytocannabinoids can mimic neurotransmitters that we callendocannabinoids, which are produced naturally by our bodies.
Our body’s Endocannabinoid system (ECS) works to balance major functions in the body such as mood, appetite, sleep and more. The body naturally produces endocannabinoids to support these functions. CBD works to slow the breakdown of naturally-occurring endocannabinoids to allow our bodies to use what’s already present. Broad Spectrum CBD Oil can help support these functions by naturally producing more cannabinoids in the body.
Although CBD is found in hemp and cannabis plants, hemp-derived CBD is federally legal in the United States as per the 2018 Farm Bill so long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. All of our CBD products contain no traces of THC.
Maybe. A good example is that we love salt but simply having more salt doesn’t make a recipe or restaurant better. In fact, at some point, too much salt makes the food too salty to eat! The type of salt matters too and maybe people would argue that Himalayan sea salt is better than old fashioned table salt because of all the other trace minerals and nutrients that are present.
At millie, we believe in formulating products that are balanced and specific to their purpose. That is why we use broad-spectrum hemp oil and adjust dosages to the products intended use. Although hemp oil is very important in our products, the balance of recipe is just as important to deliver you the best products you can buy. A great example is our line of skin care products that have incredible formulations, even without our broad-spectrum hemp oil, that deliver fantastic results for your skin. Throw our hemp oil at the appropriate portions and our great base products get even better!
Yes. Under the current 2018 Farm Bill hemp oil products are legal in all 50 states so you are safe to travel with your THC free millie products.
Broad-spectrum CBD users report a wide range of benefits including improved mood, reduced stress, improved temporary sleeplessness, reduced discomfort and many other benefits. Broad-spectrum products generally seem to perform better than products formulated with CBD isolate only due the benefits of the entourage effect, or benefits of the other minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Different people experience different results and your results may vary.
There are no studies that we know of indicating that anyone has ever overdosed on CBD. Extremely large doses of CBD may cause drowsiness and we always recommend moderation for the use of any products that can affect your body.
No. CBD is non-psychoactive and will not produce the "high" that you would typically get from cannabis products that contain THC.
Please refer to the expiration dates on our products for additional guidance. As a general rule of thumb, store your CBD products in cool places away from direct sunlight in either airtight or securely closed containers.
YES! CBD and the other cannabinoids in our products help support your body’s overall health and wellness, promote the ability to help maintain homeostasis, may reduce post-exercise inflammation, and may act as an antioxidant.
Normally, oils like CBD oil are not water soluble. millie has partnered with key suppliers with processes that encapsulate the CBD oil into nano-sized emulsion particles which are water soluble. This increases the bioavailability of CBD products that are applied topically.
There is no hard and fast rule. For general health and wellness, we typically see people take it both morning and night. Depending on your desired outcome (i.e. taking it to sleep better), you might only want to take it once a day. Results may vary.
Medical cannabis contains THC and can cause the feeling of being ‘high’. Some may want to experience the relief of medical cannabis but without the 'high' caused by THC. Others may live in a state where medical or recreational cannabis is not readily available, but CBD products are. You may also decide to use CBD products in combination with medical cannabis products. It is wholly a matter of personal preference.
Our products with CBD do not contain THC and will not produce the psychoactive or ‘high’ effects associated with medical cannabis.
Hemp products, and thus CBD, have been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine. Today, most people use CBD to promote overall health and wellness. Cannabinoids are an essential part of the body and support the endocannabinoid system which helps regulate a wide variety of physiological systems.
No. Though a common misconception, THC isnotnecessary to activate CBD in the body. THC and CBD are both bioactive independent of each other.
About Hemp
Our hemp is grown and processed in the United States.
Hemp seed oil and CBD are both derived from theCannabis sativaplant. However, while CBD oil is produced by extracting oils from the plant’s flowers, hemp seed oil extract is produced by pressing the plant’s seeds and does not contain cannabinoids.
Unlike marijuana, hemp contains remarkably low amounts (less than 0.3%) of THC. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana.
Although hemp and marijuana share the same genus and species names (Cannabis sativa), they are genetically different from one another. Marijuana is known to contain large amounts of THC, and lower amounts of CBD. While hemp is just the opposite, containing less than 0.3% THC. When the Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Oil (PCR Hemp Oil) is extracted from hemp, it is used to deliver the rich benefits of CBD, without the psychoactive effects that come from THC.
Hemp Extract is produced from industrial hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis. It is extracted from the stalks and stems of the plant to produce hemp extract, which contains multiple cannabinoids. The hemp plant is full of non-psychoactive cannabinoids and less than 0.3% of the psychoactive cannabinoids.
We choose our supply partners very carefully and trace all of our materials from origination, through extraction and on to final testing before they become millie products. We have high standards to make sure we are supplying the best products in the industry. All of our products are non-GMO, pesticide free and grown outside with organic practices but they haven’t been certified by the USDA (yet!). Currently all of our products are sourced and processed in the United States.
The Science
Terpenes are another class of compounds found in hemp. Terpenes are what give cannabis distinct smell and flavor. In fact, terpenes are widely used in aromatherapy as a healing modality. Terpenes have been recognized by the Food and Drug Administration as safe for human consumption and are used in a variety of food and cosmetic products.
The human endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a molecular system in the body that contains cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoid molecules, and their metabolic enzymes. The cannabinoid receptors of ECS are found throughout the body, firing signals that allow the body to maintain homeostasis.
CBD oil is used by many people to treat a variety of conditions however we do not and cannot make any claims regarding the conditions that CBD can treat. CBD has not been approved by the FDA in the treatment of any conditions aside from particular seizure disorders. Nonetheless, there have been numerous studies which suggest that CBD may be an effective therapy for a wide range of health issues. Consult with a qualified medical professional to determine if your condition could be helped by using CBD. As always, we also encourage you to consult your primary care physician before making any changes to your current therapies.

Isolate is typically 99% pure isolate CBD while full spectrum and broad spectrum tend to be used more interchangeably, creating some confusion, since there is no real accepted definition to either term.
At millie, we use the following terminology for clarification:
Full Spectrum - Hemp oil containing cannabinoids, terpenes, and THC at some level. This is typically below 0.3%.
Broad Spectrum - Hemp oil containing cannabinoids, terpenes, but has ZERO THC (0%). This is what we use in our products.
Isolate - concentrated formulas of specific substances. An example would be CBD isolate that is typically 99% CBD concentrate.
We try to develop products that are ‘Broad Spectrum’ meaning they contain a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes, but have 0.0% THC. There is still a lot of debate in the market as to what these terms mean, and which is better, so be sure to do your research and understand how each company defines their products.
At millie, we believe in giving you the good stuff, cannabinoids and terpenes, and providing you with a THC-free experience. The overall benefit is the ‘entourage effect’ of all the cannabinoids and terpenes working together, which is likely more beneficial than just CBD as a single molecule.
Hemp products may contain traces of THC, but our processing ensures you that our products are THC free. Our test results confirm this, as well.

YES. The 2018 Farm Bill created further clarification regarding hemp and hemp products. In addition to the 2018 bill, the legality of Cannabidiol from hemp is also supported by a 2004 unanimous ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which determined that the DEA “cannot regulate naturally-occurring THC not contained within or derived from marijuana, i.e., non-psychoactive hemp is not included in Schedule I. The DEA has no authority to regulate drugs that are not scheduled.”
